In the book, 13 Reasons Why, a boy named Clay Jensen recieves a box that is filled with 13 audiotapes. He needed to find a stereo in order to listen to the audiotapes. The audiotapes were created by a girl named Hannah Baker who commited suicide for 13 reasons. She sent the box of tapes to people who were part of the reason of why she killed herself. While hearing these tapes, Clay could not understand why he was a reason as to why Hannah killed herself. He never even knew her that well. So, he couldn't understand why he was a reason for her death. In the box there was also a map. Hannah marked down places where events had occured with her being there. While listening to the tapes, Hannah explains that it is optional for the person with these audiotapes to go to the places that occured. Hannah would have preferred if the person with these tapes had gone that way the know what Hannah went through during that exact time.
